The Tyee Club has been one of Port Alberni’s top attractions since the Great Depression, enticing locals and tourists alike to experience fishing at its finest. While people could barely scrape a couple of coins together, they still found a way to take part in this annual event that's tradition continues today.

DFO Announces Chinook Fishery Shutdown

As of today, April 16, 2019 an announcement was made for non-retention of Chinook. While how this decision will affect the BC economy overall, there has been tremendous concern on how a decision like this would affect local economies and businesses that depend on tourism—namely “recreational” sports fishing.

Call to Action – Help Save BC’s Public Fishery

Our Public Recreational Fishery is under attack. Fisheries Minister Wilkinson will be receiving DFO Management advice most likely in the week of March 11, 2019 with respect to management options for Fraser Chinook (Option A or Option B).
